"As a proud person of Jamaican ancestry, please try and find some Wray and Nephew Red Label Wine to use in place of the port in this recipe and leave out the butter and oil. It really makes the difference!"

"Yeah, this is a nice recipe that can be adapted to how you like. This is a recipe that is good for carnivores and veggies (liKe me). Nice with smoked cheese and added mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes and dried thyme. If you eat meat. add some ham. If not, make as it is but add some dried thyme and mushrooms and everyone's happy! "

"Agree with person who said did not know what was Indonesian about it. Also smoked mackerel is already salty so need to watch how much salt is added to finished dish. Good way of using up left over rice. Left out cucumber and replaced with shredded white cabbage and used curry paste with cumin and coriander which I had leftover in the fridge. Worked very well. My 8 year old austisic son who enjoys freshly cooked home meals lapped it up! "

"Great recipe but here are some suggestions: 1. Used mixed or wild mushrooms, or include some dried ones; 2. Use sherry instead of brandy, but reduce before adding the cream."

"I have not followed this recipe but I have made this sort of thing before, only I could toast the bun on a griddle pan and rub with garlic, for extra flavour."
