Method

  1. Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Put the whole chicken thighs in a large roasting tin. Scatter over the whole cloves of garlic. Squeeze over lemon wedges then tuck in around the chicken. Season well then roast in the oven for 45-50 minutes until the skin is crisp and golden and the chicken cooked through.
  2. Cook the orzo or other small pasta following pack instructions. Drain. Take the chicken out of the tin, squeeze the garlic pulp into the juices and mix. Tip the orzo into the tin with a small bunch each of chopped parsley and tarragon and mix well. Serve the orzo and chicken on a large platter.

Tried this and thought that maybe it would be a little dry but it wasn't We love Lemons so made it with 3 lemons. I had nearly run out of Orzo so used a very small pasta bow. It has now become a family favourite, very pleased to say because it so so easy to make

This was AMAZING. Feared it wouldn't be very good, who'd have thought that just lemon and garlic and chicken juice could make such a delicious ?! Had it with some big pasta (small would have been better, but it was all we had), carrots and broccoli cut up quite small and cooked in with the pasta. Very moreish.

My sister thought this was a little greasy from roasting the chicken and my brother-in-law thought it was a bit too lemony, but I thought it was blinkin' lush!

I actually roasted a whole head of garlic and squeezed it all into the orzo!

With all the great reviews I thought I'd give this a shot, but we all hated it!! Its so greasy as you mix the orzo in all the chicken juices. So basically the sauce is nothing but fat, flavoured with a little garlic and lemon. Definitely not for our family! My oh said it was slippery and slimey, and he is the kind of guy who would eat anything!
