Method

  1. Tip the caster sugar into the jar, followed by the flour, then finally the cocoa, so the ingredients sit in layers. Seal the jar.
  2. Wrap the chocolate drops and bar up in cellophane. Tie the spatula or spoon onto the jar with ribbon and pack in a gift bag or box with the chocolates, sprinkles and cupcake cases.
  3. Hand-write a label with the following instructions and attach it to the gift (alternatively, print off a ready-to-use label; see below for instructions): 'Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Put 100g very soft butter in a bowl with 2 eggs, add the contents of the jar and beat well. Add a drop of milk to the mix if it is too stiff. Stir in the white chocolate drops. Divide between the cake cases. Bake for 15 mins. Cool. Melt the milk chocolate, spoon a little over each cake and then decorate with sprinkles.'

Great idea. Have made a kit up for my friend's little girl who is always asking me if she can come round to make cakes with me. Makes a big change from all the other pink frilly tat I usually end up having to buy :o)

It says 'caster sugar' but in the jar it looks like Golden caster or Brown sugar?

I made this up this morning for a friend. I needed a last minute Christmas present, and she loves baking. It looks absolutely lovely in the jar, and I have wrapped everything up with red ribbon as suggested in the picture above. The good thing about this is, the ingredients are very basic, and I had everything in the cupboard. I wrapped up lots of mixed chocolate sprinkles for the topping alongside it, and I'm really excited to give it away. What a lovely idea.

Looked and tasted great! Would recommend smaller cupcake cases, as the big muffin ones were too big to make 12.
