Method

  1. Toss the bananas in 2 tbsp of the sugar. Heat a griddle to medium, then cook the bananas, a few pieces at a time, until sticky and showing griddle marks. Keep warm in a low oven.
  2. For the sauce, put the remaining sugar, the butter and cream into a saucepan and stir over a gentle heat until the sugar has melted. Stir in the sesame seeds. Can be made up to a day ahead. To serve, put a few pieces of banana into 8 serving dishes, spoon over some of the caramel, then top with a scoop of ice cream.

REALLY EASY. Sauce works well prepared ahead (but would leave out sesame seeds until serving) and then heated gently when doing the bananas.

The bananas fell apart and the sauce was just far too sickly- even my toddler wouldn't eat it!

Super recipe, the sauce turned out perfectly. Quick and simple. I don't have a griddle so I heated the bananas in the George Forman grill. Made it for friends and they all wanted seconds.

Toffee sauce is lovely very sweet so use sparingly and bananas came out delicious - griddle needs to be hot so as not to overlook them but to get a nice texture on the sugar - very easy and quick

This recipe is really easy and tastes amazing. I don't have a griddle either but 'cooking' the bananas in a non stick saucepan does the trick just as well. Will definately make this again.
