  This is a fab easy recipe that tastes great. I made it for a mixture of 10 adults and kids and they all loved it! I used tinned chopped tomatoes instead of the passata for cost efficency and i don't think you'd notice much difference. Will certainly make again soon

  I made the meatballs myself from mince...added a whole minute to the process but was lovely. A real winner, especially for after school teas!

  Delicious! I made my own low fat lamb mince meatballs (gf recipe also superb) and used a sainsbury's tomato and herb pasta sauce instead of the passata. Was so easy and so so tasty!

  I much prefer to make my own meatballs (cheaper and I know what's in them), and instead of expensive passate, simply liquidize two tins of tomatoes for the same result.

  Definitely do this one again. I added some carrots to the stew, my 2 year old loved it which is always a bonus. I added a little low fat creme fraich to reduce the tartness of the tomato sauce. All good though!

  i made a bit of a mess of this by undercooking my potatoes and then overcooking my meatballs but it was still tasty and not at all bland. i did make my own meatballs rather than using shop-bought. meatballs is my fall-back recipe, usually served with spaghetti, so i'm sure this recipe will get plenty of use as a nice alternative. i am a little baffled by all the comments about using chopped tomatoes instead of passata to make it cheaper - passata is actually cheaper than chopped tomatoes in my local sainsbury's...

  I made my own meatballs, but did'nt like this at all, it just tasted of tomatoe, maybe it would have been better with a little beef stock and then just cooked for a little longer.
