Molten Mug Chocolate Cake

This decadent chocolate cake recipe is perfect for a late night treat. Add a dollop of peanut butter in the middle for an added bonus!

Method

  1. Add dry ingredients to mug, mix well with a fork.
  2. Add egg, mix throughly.
  3. Pour in milk, oil and vanilla, mix well.
  4. Add chocolate chips if desired. Push a dollop of peanut butter into the center of the batter if desired.
  5. Put mug into microwave and cook for three minutes on 1000 watts. Cake will rise over top of mug. Allow to cool for 2 minutes.

    Yum! Just made this as fancied a chocolate cake. Followed the suggestions about using self raising flower. As I don't eat egg, I added a tablespoon of natural yoghurt instead and it turned out really well! It's too much for one person though and the bit that I left went dry after half hour. Great recipe if you have a craving for chocolate cake!

    i agree with the cake monster comments. if you only have plain flower then you can add half a tea spoon of baking powder and it works fine. for 700w microwave, 2 minutes is fine.

    Just done this for my two children who gave it the thumbs up. I used SR flour as per the suggestions and put pushed 2 squares choc in the middle of the mixture, then gave it 2 mins in an 800w microwave.
