I also loved this take on the humble runny eggs and soilders, I also tried it with marmalade or honey on the toast for a sweeter version. (or the marmite haters) and I think it's really good how they show you how to boil the perfect runny egg!

Made this for my 6 year old Son for breakfast, but used Honey instead of Marmite, (not fans) and he loved it!!! As did my Husband and me. We have also just had the wholemeal toast, honey and seeds if we were rushed for time. Still very yummy. More shocked my Husband tried it rather than my Son :)

This is a nice reminder as to how yummy and filling soft boiled eggs are. I love marmite, so this added a savoury extra to the recipe. I don't think its inappropriate to mention basics such as boiling an egg, and this is a top easy meal.

Two eggs for two people??? Lightweights! Two each as an absolute minimum. Didn't have mixed seeds, so had to raid the budgie's cage...(joke! We only have a parrot...)

Anyone tried sprinkling some sesame seeds on a non-non-stick cast iron frying pan (As I bought, thanks to Jamie Oliver's Duck Breast recepe, which I've lost) , and putting the soldiers face-down on them, and 'toasting the toast' for a minute or two? I'll give it a shot tomorrow, as Girlie's on holiday and can afford to be ill for a couple of days...Expect(orate) a report back soon...

Amazing. Didn't have seeds so omited them and used wholemeal pitta instead of normal brown bread which worked brilliantly. It had probably been about 10 years since i'd last had a runny egg but now I'm having them all the time. It's really the marmite that makes this though as the savoury punch adds so much extra flavour and thus enjoyment. Yum.

I put my fridge cold eggs onto hot but not quite boiling water and all of them split, so I had hard boiled eggs :( Has any one had success with cold eggs? I'm living proof that even with a recipe, some people can't (soft) boil an egg!

Love soft-boiled eggs, love Marmite, but think I'd rather stick with unspoiled buttered toast for this - though the seeds are an interesting addition. However - my contribution is that if you want perfectly soft-boiled eggs at 8,200ft (Colorado Rockies), boil for exactly 7 minutes (from fridge). Took me a while to work this out!

Yum! I've been having dippy eggs with marmite for a while but have never quite perfected getting the runny yolk but set white (I always either overdo the yolk or underdo the white - bleughhh!). These instructions were perfect, though. Thanks!
