I'm not trying that one unless that's a serious tip!! Surely not cream - that delves into sweet territory..! I could cope with the pepper suggestion as it's savoury (although yet to try it yet!)

Try replacing the margarine with marmite - you'll either love it or hate it!

I used a whole 500g tub of margarine - as suggested in the ingredients list - and found this dish a little rich. I'd recommend using less.

I find if you butter both sides of the toast you can easily use up a whole tub of margarine, or better still leave the toast to cool and crisp slightly and it will soak in the margarine much better, good luck White Jeans!

What would be the best wine match for this dish? Something full-bodied and alcoholic (like me)?

hmmm that's a difficult one. I would go for red over white I'm thinking, although not sure why. Maybe a nice shiraz...

As a variation you could try mixing some Hartley's Stawberry Jam in with the Peanut butter before spreading on the bread. Loses points on the presentation but makes it all easy to spread. (PS: Definitely crunchy!)
