Raw dough or un-iced baked biscuits can be frozen

Method

  1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Mix the butter, sugars, egg yolks and vanilla with a wooden spoon until creamy, then mix in the flour in 2 batches. Stir in the orange zest. Roll the dough into about 22 walnut-size balls and sit on baking sheets. Bake for 15 mins until golden, then leave to cool.
  2. Meanwhile, mix the icing sugar with enough orange juice to make a thick, runny icing. Dip each biscuit half into the icing, then straight into the sprinkles. Dry on a wire rack.

These were easy to make needed more than 15 mins to cook though.... Not overly exciting to eat.. Not in a rush to do them again...

as suggested above i cooked for over 15 minutes i waited until they were quite golden and cut into one to see how cooked they were... i made 12 large ones rather than small ones and they were very yummy! not too sweet on their own they looked and tasted like baby rusks!! havent tried them with icing and sprinkles on as ended up eating them slightly warm but im sure it adds a bit of sweetness to them

Just finished making these super easy cookies... Saw this recipe less than 2 hours ago and had everything in the larder! My, almost, four year old daughter loved to add the sprinkles and wanted to way them all in one go! We will be making these again but I think I'll make them flat and much smaller as I found them a little dry and shortbread like... Yummy though!

Was quite looking forward to making these with my daughter, and honestly, the best part was letting her roll the dough! They were very dry, very crumbly and VERY disappointing, I won't be making these again.

Has anyone ever tried these? Sprinkles on one side and icing on the other.

My batch was very dry and not as expected. Good for dunking into tea though. Disappointing

My two children and I had a lot of fun making these cookies. We followed the recipe exactly. I also mixed the dough by hand. They came out perfectly, not too dry, and not too crumbly. Taste wise, they were OK and not overly sweet - perfectly ideal for the kids.
