  • 375g sheet ready-rolled puff pastry
  • 5 tbsp red pesto
  • 70g pack sliced salami

  • 125g ball mozzarella, torn into pieces
  • drizzle extra-virgin olive oil (optional)
  • handful rocket, to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Unroll the pastry onto a large baking sheet and prick all over with a fork. Spread over the pesto, leaving a border of roughly 1 inch around the edge. Layer on the salami, top with the torn mozzarella and some seasoning, then bake for 15-20 mins until the pastry is golden, risen and crisp.

  2. Drizzle with a little extra virgin olive oil, if you like, and scatter over some rocket.

Made it with tomato puree, plum tomatoes and mozzarella, with a little bit of dried basil on top... yum!

I love this tart but I do add sliced onions and olives to it,

This was an unmitigated disaster. Soggy undercooked pastry and a burnt top. I won't be trying this again in a hurry.

Loved the idea but changed it slightly:
Pre- made puff pastry
Pizza topping
Tuna
Cheddar cheese
Mozerella
Baked for 15 minutes, tasted delicious. Definitely recommend. I may prefer this to normal pizza!

Lovely, easy family dish. My 2 girls aged 2 and 1 loved this. A great idea to use red pesto intstead of the passatta I would usually use.

Full of flavour and easy weekday meal. I added extra parmesan with crushed garlic into the pesto and it's worth buying fresh pesto.

Turned out much more appetising looking than the picture here! We didn't bother with the token sprinkling of rocket and did a side salad instead. I added a few slices of red pepper and some oregano to the mix and sprinkled some chilli flakes on once cooked. My very particular hubby loved it :)

yummy!! made this for me and my husband tonight and thought it was lovely, the pesto makes it really tasty. I also added some chilli's to spice it up.
Will definitely make again.

The picture makes the dish look terrible. Even if it tasted fantastic I dont think I would want to cook it.

You can replace the salami with any cured meat, such as coppa or bresaola.
