Method

  1. Add the oil to a large non-stick pan, season the steaks well, then fry for 5 mins on each side until golden and almost cooked through. Mix the sugar, soy, tomato purée and most of the pineapple juice in a bowl.
  2. Add the pineapple rings to the pan and let them caramelise a little alongside the pork. Add the chilli and five-spice to the pan, then fry for 1 min until aromatic. Tip in the soy mix and let it bubble around the pork and pineapple for a few mins until slightly reduced and sticky. Sprinkle with coriander, and serve with rice and Chinese greens.

Fab mid week recipe.Although it doesn't say, I gave this recipe only a quick dash of soy.Instead of using steaks I used diced pork pieces.I also used pineapples pieces rather than whole rings. It all worked just as well. We had basmati rice and fresh steamed shredded spring greens.Fabulous recipe.Really really impressed.Especially since it is so quick to make.

Excellent, mostly store cupboard ingredients and pork is quite cheap. Very speedy to make with very little mess. I serve with brown rice & brocolli as healthy after-work meal. I do use these quantities though for only 2 steaks as the juice soaks into the rice nicely.

This was a nice easy meal and quick to prepare so perfect if you are in a hurry. I added some extra veg to mine eg red peppers and a bit of spring onion. A handful of beansprouts would be ok too. Would def make again

I love this recipe, but does anyone know if the sauce could be made up in large batches and refrigerated or even frozen to be used at a later date?

Surprisingly good in a ridiculously short amount of time. Tasted as good as a takeaway. Served with stir fried greens & noodles
