Method

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan, then tip in the egg. Leave to set for 30 secs-1 min, swirling every now and again, then tip it out and finely slice. Add bacon and mushrooms to pan, then fry until golden, about 3 mins. Add peas, garlic and ginger, then cook for 1 min.

  2. Mix the soy sauce and sugar together. Turn up the heat, add the cooked rice to the pan, heat through, then splash in the sweet soy sauce. Stir through the egg and serve straight away, with more soy sauce if you like.

Great midweek meal - it is quick to prepare especially if you buy the ready cooked packs of rice. I cannot eat egg so I cook the recipe without it and remove my portion. Then I add the egg at the end (just before soy sauce) and stir it through and coat all of the ingredients. That works fine.

The flavours in this recipe are really nice - everything works well together. It is easy to tweak as well depending on what you have to hand. Would definitely recommend for a tasty, simple supper.

Made this for the family tonight, not me as I don't eat meat. I added onions and chicken instead of bacon. Big thumbs up all round. This is the best website for recipes :-}

Great for using up left-overs and can be easily tweaked to use up what you have left. I didn't have peas so used sweetcorn, very nice indeed.

Cooked the rice specially in strong vegetable stock so it took longer than 12 minutes to prepare, but a lovely, easy meal. The ginger makes it really tasty.

I didn't have ginger but used 1 extra garlic clove and a little extra soy sauce, it was a quick, tasty and enjoyable meal, Will have again.

Very tasty and very easy. All 3 kids and hubby ate it all. i used pancetta instead of bacon and added a pepper and spring onions aswell as the mushrooms and peas. I also added smoked mackerel in to beef it up a little but would be just as good with leftover chicken or pork. This will be a regular in our house from now on.

Left out the mushrooms but added spring onions and Five Spice.
OMG beautiful, such wonderful tastes.
Served it with sweet and sour pork.
Will make again that's for sure.

Absolutely scrumptious! I made this for the first time a couple of weeks ago and my fiance and I loved it. Now it's a regular in our weekly meals. :) So filling and tastes wonderful!
