Balsamic-glazed steak with garlicky green beans

There's no need to limit steak to special occasions with this fab low gi midweek supper

Method

  1. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan. Add the garlic and sizzle for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and cloves and simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened. Fish out the cloves then add the beans with a splash of water and cook for 3-4 minutes until just tender.
  2. Heat a frying pan until it's smoking hot. Season the steaks well then sear for 1 minute on each side. Add the balsamic to the pan and cook for another 30 seconds on each side. Rest for 3-4 minutes. Pile up the beans and sauce on two plates. Thickly slice the steak and put on top of the beans.

    I made this for dinner last night and it was amazing! It literally took me about 10 minutes to make the whole thing!!! Will definitely be making this once a week. It was great!!!!!

    Don't do what I did and forget the balsamic ... it wasn't the same drizzled on afterwards! A big hit with Mr Cookerybook, all the same. I'll be making it again... more carefully next time.
