Ingredients

  • 200g softened butter
  • 300g soft brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 300g self raising flour
  • 80g cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 300g choc chips

Method

    1. preheat oven to 180 c/ gas 4
    2. cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in vanilla extract and eggs
    3. in a separate bowl sift flour, cocoa and baking powder together
    4. add flour mix to the creamed mix in stages( a third at a time) mix well. fold in choc chips until just combined.
    5. spoon a tablespoon of the mixture on to a baking tray and just let it drop off the spoon, repeat until you have used up all the cookie mixture.
    6. bake in preheated oven for 12 minutes, when you remove the cookies from the oven they will still be soft, leave to cool completely on the baking tray, where they will continue to cook slightly, when completely cold move to a cooling rack. then enjoy Mmmmmmmm.

Delicious! I halved the recipe and ended up with 12 decent sized chunky cookies, the only mistake I made was leaving them in for a couple of minutes longer as they didn't look done enough so they were a bit dry around the edges. Next time I will flatten them a bit before putting in the oven and will take them out after 12 minutes as per the recipe.

These went down well with everyone. I used 100g of chocolate chips which seemed to be just the right amount.

I halved the recipe and still got over 10 cookies! Used choc m&ms and tiny pieces of fudge for real indulgence...went down a treat with our guests!

Whoops!! .. forgot to rate .. Definitely a 5 * recipe - and would award more if I was able to!

The only deviation from the recipe that I made was to use a bar of milk chocolate chopped up into random sized chunks. SERIOUSLY GOOD COOKIES!! .. easily the best cookie recipe I have found and one I will use time and again. The family loved them. Perfect, yummy cookies. All other cookie recipes will be going in the bin!!
Thanks Carol !!

Another great recipe. They disappear very quickly when the family are around.

I think I undercooked them slightly as my first batch fell apart! 2nd batch was better - needs the full 12 mins and more!

These are brilliant thanks. My husband likes them that much I think he might actually do the baking next time! Lovely recipe but I made 18 and they were still quite big!

These cookies were really delicious! I made half mixture; made 14 good size cookies, they were very popular and will definitely be made again.

I just tried these and OMG they are so delicious!!! I added a little twist which ended up not being so nice! I added butterscotch chips with the chocolate ones.. Next time (oh there will definitely be a next time!!) I'll stick to the recipe and use only chocolate chips.. My hubby loved them as well.. 5 stars!

This recipe works perfectly and makes the best chocolate cookies in the world!!
I used half choc chips (white and milk) and half m&ms..delicious, if not disgustingly unhealthy!

Great recipe, I made 38 cookies, about rich tea size with the amounts given, which took about 9 mins to cook properly, any longer and they get a bit crispy round the edges. I used white and milk choc chips which was delicious and looked great. Really easy recipe, will definitely make again!
