Salmon with coriander dahl & rice

Fresh and filling, good for you and cheap to make - this is a midweek meal that ticks all the boxes

Method

  1. Put the first 7 ingredients in a pan, bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 20 minutes until lentils are tender. Stir in the coriander.
  2. Rub the salmon with oil, seasoning and a little garam masala. Grill for 6-7 minutes until just cooked. Break into large chunks and gently stir through the dahl. Serve with the rice, and naan bread, if you like.

    This is very tasty, I was in a rush so used a can of ready made dahl which made it even easier. Needs seasoning to really bring out the full flavour. Great with mango chutney.

    This was so easy to make and was really delicious. It is the first time I have ever made dahl and was unsure what consistency I was looking for. I think it was maybe not thick enough, but I still loved it!

    Very simple receipe and well received by family. The dahl was lovely - although I added the juice of half a lemon to lift it a bit. The salmon was great too. Quick, easy and tasty - just the way I like it!

    This is very easy to make and tastes delicous. Family loved it and will be making this again. Didn't have chilli flakes so tried without but will get some as think it make make it even better but even without is now a family favourite!

    This is a great recipe. Added a wee bit of ginger and garlic paste to the dahl, as well as seasoning and pan fried the salmon. Just lovely, lovely, lovely.

    Sounds delish, but I just can't do spicy. The dahl is great, can season it without making it spicy, but I have to do this for myself only - husband is not too keen on lentils. Salmon - i just like to microwave the fillet on a plate with lemon or lime juice, then serve. I'll definitely have to try the dahl and salmon together soon - not a combination I'd thought of.

  • 75g red lentils
  • 400ml chicken stock
  • 1 small onion , grated
  • 2 tomatoes , chopped
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala , plus extra for the salmon
  • pinch chilli flakes
  • small bunch coriander , chopped
  • 2 x 130g fillets salmon
  • groundnut oil or sunflower oil
  • cooked basmati rice and naan bread, to serve
