  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan, add the onion, then fry for 5-8 mins until lightly browned. Stir in the tomatoes, sugar, thyme and soy, then bring to the boil.

  2. Simmer 5 mins, then slip the cod into the sauce. Cover and gently cook for 8-10 mins until the cod flakes easily. Serve with baked or steamed potatoes.

I followed advice and left out the soy, added garlic and olives and extra half tin of toms. Everyone enjoyed it including my 4 year old. I am a veggie so used quorn pieces...will try with tofu next time. Quick and tasty!

Not a bad recipe easy enough to make the soy sauce makes it abit bland so would recommend not using it In the sauce x

Tasty, healthy & easy. 5/5 for a midweek meal. I would add less sugar next time (maybe add to taste towards the end) and add alot more thyme.

Really really simple to make, and very tasty with a nice piece of fish. I didn't have any fresh thyme, but followed the others on the ingredient list and it was delicious. I was only making for 2 people, yet still used whole tin of tomatoes, so there was a bit of extra 'sauce', but would be nice with some crusty bread. I served with roasted wedges to dip in the excess tomato sauce.

Made this as per recipe except I used Pollack instead of Cod. Very easy and quick to do with lots of flavour at the end. Served with buttered green beans and "crispy garlic & rosemary slices" - also from good food.

A good basic recipe. Generally leave out the soy sauce but add salt and pepper and often black olives and some garlic. The kids especially like it with rice and some fine green bean sand broccoli. We make this all year round as it is a quick midweek dinner that I know all 3 kids will eat

I omitted the soy sauce and thyme as had no thyme. Made this with chorizo, garlic and smoked paprika as suggested in one of the comments. Delicious and two of the three kids loved it! Will def try again with soy and thyme. Definitely a keeper for random white fish we get I our fish box

Tasty and really simple recipe. I added garlic and omitted the soy sauce and sugar. Even my super fussy kids liked it. It made a perfect lunch, served with steamed new potatoes, carrots and brocolli. I prefer origano in tomato sauces, so next time I'm going to use origano instead of thyme, and salmon filets and prawns instead of white fish, which I think are more flavoursome (and healthier!).

Scrumptious and simple dish, which I served for a main for a night in with a friend.
Recipe slightly tweaked; additional garlic, handful more of extra thyme and straying from the soy sauce requirement. Not the most spectacular presentation on the plate, perhaps this can be worked on.

Delicious. Added lots of garlic. Will definitely be making again! I do agree it does need just a little bit of doctoring so maybe a few olives next time, and a touch of chilli.

defrost and microwave? or boil in the bag I froze it in?

I used 1 tsp of soya sauce instead of 1 tablespoon, added more thyme and a tsp of mixed herbs, plus 2 cloves of garlic. Absolutely delicious.
