Hot-smoked salmon & watercress pâté with bagel crisps

Better when made a few hours earlier, this dish lends itself to laid-back dining

Method

  1. Put the salmon, butter, cream cheese, lemon juice and watercress in a food processor and whizz until roughly blended.
  2. Halve the bagels then slice thinly. Drizzle with olive oil and sea salt and bake at 190C/fan 170C/gas 5 for 10-15 minutes or until crisp. Serve with the pâté.

    Really not sure about this one .... did make it for a special meal but it never got to the table as it was a bit too rich. Tasted more like butter than smoked salmon. Sorry!

    Forgot to say, Bagels were really yummy and a really interesting twist on melba toasts. Would make these again, definitely!

    Made this as an easy starter along with the smoked mackerel pate with herbs, and some greek yogurt dips, really easy to do, will not buy shop bought anymore. Even the kids loved it. Great to have as a starter with the others, as you can also enjoy the evening as everyone just digs in with their hands, and of course the odd bread stick and toast.
