Loved it, so easy and delicious, make sure you don't overcook the sponge in the microwave as it can be a bit dry, I am 7 months pregnant and crave puddings all the time, I would happily skip dinner and have something sweet instead so this is ideal for me, quick, easy and delicious... And my husband is spared the supermarket trip for my cravings!

Fast and easy !! This is a GREAT RECIPE Thank you so much :)

This recipe is great! I've seen a few of these types of recipes and to be honest I wasn't convinced they would work. The result however was a yummy moist sponge pudding that you could easily pass off as having taken hours to prepare. I've made both the lemon and chocolate versions and both are equally delicious. The only problem is now I want to make and eat this everyday! Thanks bbc good food!

I am not a fan of stodgy puddings, but this is absolutely delicious. Lovely and light and not too filling. I made the lemon recipe the first time. Yesterday I made the basic recipe without the lemon but added ginger instead. Placed golden syrup in the bottom of the basin before adding the ginger mixture - scrummy!

Fabulous - made the chocolate version - added cocoa and a heaped teaspoon of instant coffee dissolved in a dessert spoon of hot water plus some plain chocolate chopped up. 4 mins in microwave and it was delicious.

Made this tonight for extended family. Followed the recipe but increased the quantity two-fold. Used a 9 inch square dish and cooked in microwave (full heat, 850W) for approx 6 minutes, mixing after every1 min for first three minutes. Topped with fresh-made lemon curd (http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/5001/microwave-lemon-curd.aspx, used juice and zest of three lemons) and served with creme fresh. Came out perfect, everyone enjoyed it including the 6-year old. Definitely will be maing again, very soon!

Totally fab, I mixed all the dry ingredients first, then added 2 medium size eggs, to form a beautiful smooth batter. Added golden syrup to the bowl bottom, five tblspns, then carefully put batter. 3 mins 10 secs, for a perfect finish.

this is an AMAZING recipe so fast and delicious as a alternative it tastes great if you put golden syrup in the bottom of the dish the put the mix on top and then cook in the microwave and it makes a kind of sauce!... xxx

I've never thought I'd make a pudding solely using a microwave. Surprisingly nice. Followed recipe for cake to the letter but didn't have any lemon curd so made some. Served hot with dollop of vanilla ice cream. Very nice. Will definitely make again when not planned a dessert and kids and husband expecting one!!

THIS, is one of the BEST puddings EVER!!! My 12 year old made it all in one bowl today after Sunday lunch; AMAZINGLY fast and simple. We had it with creme fraiche and vanilla ice cream. We can't wait to try the chocolate one. Thanks for a great recipe.

This really is a great store cupboard recipe just made this but after 3 mins in the microwave I felt it needed another minute.. Took 4mins to make and another 4mins to scoff completely.

This is a firm favourite in our household...the children are always asking for when we can have it next ! I agree with some of the previous comments about the cooking time taking a little longer than stated (800w microwave) however I keep cooking for about a minute or so beyond the time stated and use a skewer to test the sponge at regular intervals until it comes clean. I have also made it with a homemade butterscotch sauce...also a big hit !!

I've made both lemon and chocolate versions of this sponge and it is delicious either way! Going to try a few variations to find my favourite. Perfect for when you are in a hurry or just in the mood for something yummy. :)
