Yummy a really good recipe but be warned instruction one says mix dry ingredients then next instruction says to cream butter and sugar, so don't add sugar at the beginning. I have learnt to read ahead :)

These cookies are fab! They taste delicious and look fantastic (although some of my smarties split slightly, not that it mattered because the children ate them first). I followed the recipe in the magazine and didn't mix the smarties in the dough - has anyone tried this and does it work ok? I find 190c a little hot if you have a fan oven. I baked mine at 170c and left them in a bit longer and they turned out really crispy. However, don't overcook them if you prefer them a bit softer. Make sure you leave plenty of space between the cookies on the baking sheet because they do spread alot. My boys like BIG cookies and ping pong amounts of dough squashed to about a 1.5 cm thick will produce a lovely cookie about 13cm across. Hope you all make these, they're great!

I tried this twice and on both occassions i found that the mixture would not come together properly. I added extra flour to do so which worked well. However the cookies were far too sweet and buttery.

Thanks for this recipe - it's easy and tasty! I have made it a few times now, and occasionally replace 1tbs of the flour for cocoa powder just to make it even more chocolately! A word of warning - if you make this with children, keep a spare tube of Smarties as you're bound to 'lose' a few to eager tummies!

We made it with half the ingredients and only made 9 or 10. We think they taste great with a good cup of coffee. They tasted a bit like a crispy cake!!!!! We make something every now and again and this looked good on our laptop so we made it.!

Lovely, easy to make cookies, however I agree you need to reduce the amount of sugar by about 50g. Instead of smarties I used a couple of packs of choc chips. Clague family - I mixed these into the dough mixture and it worked fine. :-)

I made half the recipe, making 10 cookies. They do spread a lot and are huge, so you could make 20 smaller ones with half the mix. They were delicious and my children and their friends loved them. I expected them to be soft and chewy, but they are actually crisp and crunchy. This is not a criticism though. I made them with Reeces Pieces at the request of my kids. For those who don't know, they look like yellow, orange and brown Smarties, but they have peanut butter in them instead of chocolate. They are irresistable if you like peanut butter. I buy them at Morrisons. Next time I might do a mixture of these and Smarties.
