Lady's Kisses-Baci di dama

Lady's Kisses-Baci di dama

This a perfect little treat to offer someone you love or simply to have on this day: Saint Valentine's. It's an Italian specialty from Turin, from where the best hazelnuts are from... and the name Baci di Dama, literally 'Lady's Kisses', as they are paired together to resemble a kiss. The best cookies ever!! Very easy to make and they taste delicious!!

Total time

1 hour refrigerating the dough

Method

  1. In a bowl combine the hazelnut meal, sugar, flour, coffee and cocoa. Add the softened butter and quickly make a cookie dough.
  2. Wrap it in a cling film and preserve in the fridge for 1 hour at least.
  3. Shape little balls, the cookie dough will feel a bit wet but don't worry. Bake the little Baci for 30 minutes, oven 200 ºC- checking from time to time and when done take out and let cool on a tray.
  4. Note: During the cooking process the ball will flatten on one side. When cooled, take two pieces and stick them together with a bit of chocolate cream in the middle. And there you have it. Only left for you to start kissing!! XXX

Very disappointing! Followed the recipe and ended up with crumble mixture not a cookie dough.

Hello Malishka, I have had the same problem the fist time I tried these biscuits. The second time I did them by mixing all the ingredients in a blender ( the one used to mix the ingredients for bread, cakes). And the dough was perfect, well blended. Today, I tried them again without blender, and the dough is very disappointing. The dough results in crumbles. So, the secret is: use the blender.

This recipe does not specify the type of sugar used so it could prove to be a very expensive mistake.

Have made these little bites from a recipe from Good Food Channel. They are so easy and so delicious. The recipe called for 100g each of softened butter, castor sugar, ground almonds and flour. Beat the butter and sugar together, work in the ground almonds and flour until the mixture comes together(I promise it will). Break off little bits about size of walnut & roll into ball in palm of hand. Place on baking tray lined with silicone paper and spaced well apart. Pat each one on top with the back of spoon. Bake in oven @ 180C for 10/12 mins. When cool, sandwich together with Nutella....Declicous!!!!. Also fab on their own as little biscuits. Have also added few drops of lemon and served with coffee!!. What's so great is that its only 4 ingredients. Forgot to say makes approx 20 biscuits or 10 back di dama. Go on!!! Give them a go!!!!

I used less flour, around 170g, and it was very good.
