Method

  1. Heat the oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Line a 22cm square brownie tin with baking parchment. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a microwave or in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Cool to room temperature. Whisk the eggs and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  2. Fold the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and sift on the flour, baking powder and cocoa. Fold this in to give a fudgy batter. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is cracked but the middle just set. Cool completely, then lift out of the tin and cut.

Have made these twice now and both times, wonderful. I've made them with Asdas own dark chocolate and with no cocoa powder and they taste soooo nice. Mine also needed cooked a little longer in the oven but when they were done they had the delicious brownie texture. Love this recipe and so quick and easy to make.

I've got to say these are the best Brownies I have tasted - it was my first time making them too and they turned out EXCELLENT. The recipe is VERY easy to follow and taste excellent once done. The amount of mixture you produce is a lot so I recommend a big tin or tray as stated. I used Cadbury's Bournville Dark Chocolate and some White Chocolate Chips just for advice - Very nice indeed! 5 Stars!

Great! This was my first bake ever. I didn't have a 22 cm brownie tin, so used a smaller one. The very centre was not well done, had to throw it out. But the rest was perfect - well-done around the edges and gooey towards the centre. Will try again with the right size of the brownie tin and dark chocolate (used milk chocolate this time). Also, I used the microwave in the convection mode instead of an oven.

Undoubtably the best brownies I have ever made. Cooked them for the recommended 25mins and they were perfect, gooey but firm enough to cut in squares. Added chunks of white and milk chocolate, made them even better!
