  I have just made this jam. I added 2 teaspoons of lemon juice to help with the setting. Found the timing for the microwave a bit vague, what wattage is used? A very simple recipe. very quick. I made it whilst making my lunch! It made 3 small-medium jars.

  I made this very successfully but it took far longer than the recipe said in the microwave to achieve a setting point. Recipe does not state the wattage of microwave used which would also vary the timings.

  Had never made jam before and this was incredibly easy to do. Everyone has said how lovely it is, will try & make a few more batches before the strawberries run out.

  It takes much longer than the suggested 8 minutes. My first batch ended up like a coulis as I didn't cook it long enough. Very easy once you have got the hang of your timings.

  Used timings given in recipe. My microwave is 900W, and I used Blueberries which resulted in a soft set, but they were still "scrumpious" on buttered scones...Yum!

  Excellent jam receipe - so easy especially as I had never made jam before. I used blackberries and the jam is fab - only problem is I had to guess the timings due to the wattage.

  I make my jams in a three pint Pyrex jug. Find it safer to handle than in a bowl. Trouble is find a full pound of fruit and sugar can boil over, so just make 12oz at a time. Anyway that is a couple of jars and as it is so easy to make this way no problem to make another batch.

  I love damsons and the jam is my favourite. We have accesss to loads and I also make Damson Gin. Of course there is the problems of the damson stones. To overcome this I gently cook the damsons, without the sugar and freeze in useable blocks. To make the jam I just defrost and use equal quantaties of sugar. Ordinary granulated is OK if you put in a squeeze of lemon juice. I cook for approx 3 mins, stir. Cook 5 mins, stir. Final 5mins then put in warm jars. (I put a bit of water in jars and microwave for a couple of mins). Remember to put your jars on a cork/wooden board or similar to prevent cracking the jars. My microwave is E rated so it is trial and error as to what suits your equipment. I have been known when making jam too thick to make another lot straight away that is thinner and mix them. Or if too thin putting it back in for a bit longer. Anyway microwaving beats standing over a hot cooker fishing out stones.

  Just made this & worked out fine although I had to add another 3-4 mins (using a 850w microwave) Will be using again, sooo much easier.
