Just had this for tea and it was amazing. My partner and kids loved it even though my kids never eat their usual mash they cleared their plates tonight. I used 2 garlic cloves and cheddar cheese instead of gruyere and i didnt have any thyme to put on it. Will make again and use ingredients listed. Thanks for a great recipe

Lovely crunchy top and tasty mash underneath. Have made this to go with a variety of meals - from sausage to Italian lamb casserole. Fab.I also used a couple of extra cloves of garlic! yum!Works well made ahead.

really not a lover of mashed potato, but this recipe is really good. looks nicer on the plate with the crispy topping than a boring mash mountain. required seasoning which is not mentioned in the recipe, but overall great stuff.

Really nice. I added a chunk of celeriac (as I was looking for a use for the one in my veg box) and it worked nicely. Definitely a 'make again' recipe.

Lovely side dish, served it with Chicken Chasseur (receipe also on this site). Used two garlic cloves - great success with everyone asking for more. Good to make in advance and pop in the oven for 15/20 mins just before serving.

we were really disappointed by this. we love garlic and we love mash but this was somehow less than the sum of its parts. i would rather have had a big pile of creamy mashed potato made with just some butter and plenty of black pepper. plus i think that just one clove of garlic does not a garlic mash potato bake make...

Beautiful - best Mash by far! Halved the potato quantity but failed to remember to halve the rest of the ingredients- which resulted in the creamiest, most amazing mash!!
