  I baked these today (having never baked anything in my life!) and they came wonderfully. The recipe was very easy to follow. Now I just have to stop my husband eating them all at once!

  iv had a nightmare! the dough/mix was way too sticky and gooey and impossible to roll or even hold! Will try again using more flour, but i already have added more to the suggested 300g.

  Really really yummy!!! Done them as various christmas shapes - went down really well - too well! Does need to be well chilled - otherwise very sticky. If you take out of chiller and still to sticky put back in and keep checking! So yummy and easy!

  yummymummy is bang on - they have to be really wel chilled, with plenty of flour on the board and on the rolling pin when you lay them out. Delicious!

  Really simple to make, I made these as part of homemade hamper presents. I did not bother with the decoration but they went down really well.

  Have made these biscuits twice now and both times the results have been amazing. Very simple and my 2 and 3 year old girls love to help too.

  it is pretty sticky especially at the beginnign while making the dough (I simply used hands). but later if u leave it in the fridge for longer (more than an hour) it doesn't cause any trouble to roll. very tasty!

  Left the dough overnight in the fridge. Was a bit hard to work with but leave a minute or two and it was fine. In fact this batch turned out better than the ones I made as a test run yesterday. Great Recipe with some biscuits for us and some as part of a food hamper for the mum-in-law!

  Made these today and was very pleased with the taste - I drizzled some white chocolate over the top and sprinkled with hundreds and thousands instead of the silver balls. One thing I was a bit disappointed with was that the cookies didn't hold their shape very well. My stars came out a bit blobby and fat! Might refrigerate for longer on the trays and try again.

  I made these with soft baking spread instead of butter and they still held their shape. I chilled the dough for over an hour and then the trays with the shapes on for half an hour. I drizzled chocolate on them. It could have been the lack of butter but I think they were not very flavoursome at all, bit bland, wouldn't make again. Looked pretty though.

  Just made these and they're great! Just did them plain and there just as good. As others have mentioned leave in the fridge for well over an hour and use lots of flour but rolled beautifully and cut really well. Will be joining my binder!!!

  Although the dough was really sticky and soft a after the hour of chilling, it was a lot easier to work with after being in the fridge overnight. They were really tasty and crisp and my 2 year old daughter loved decorating them with glace icing and hundreds and thousands. Very versatile and I will definitely be making these again.

  These were sooo sticky! The dough was a nightmare to work with, even after putting it in the freezer overnight! Finally cut the dough into shapes and thought they would cook just fine but they didn't and so ended up in the bin! Sorry BBC Good Food, one recipe that didn't turn out wonderfully :(

  After reading previous comments about it being too sticky I just added the egg yolk. I was kept the dough in the fridge overnight, cut into stars, chilled for a further 10 mins and baked for 12 mins. They turned out beautifully.
