Really yummy! I made half the quantity just to try it out, and mashed it with a fork instead of blending it - I thought it was nice to have some bigger bits of fish. I thought the amount of lemon was just right to stop the whole thing being too rich

Hilariously (and mildly embarrassingly) I picked up Hollandaise instead of Horseradish and this still worked a treat!

Easy to make but delicious and if you use Sainsbury's Basics range smoked mackerel and soft cheese, it is also really inexpensive to make. Highly Recommended!

My first attempt; maybe a bit too much lemon and I found it quite sloppy. I'm going to use less lemon next time but any suggestions as to how to make it less sloppy?

Really easy to make. Next time I'll use only half the lemon juice as it was a bit over-powering.

Cut down the lemon, use peppered smoked mackerel. Easy enough to mix with a fork if you don't have a blender. Lovely!

Delicious and easy AND quick. Made it tonight for a midweek tea and I will definitely be making this again. We had it with brown toast and simpe salad. Agree with others about the lemon so will use less next time.

Absolutely delicious and so easy to make. I've made it several times now, it works brilliantly with a crusty baguette for lunch. Does anyone know how long it last in the fridge though? I made double for guests who werent able to come. Thank you!

I made this the day before serving at a dinner party and it kept well. I used smoked peppered mackerel and a large lemon. Will definitely make again (and again!) but will use a small lemon one next time as it was definitely too lemony (but still yummy!). I also found that it made a really huge quantity - I'd say more like 8 generous servings!

I have used this recipe on many occasions and passed it on to family and friends, it's very yummy and easy to prepare. Try swapping mackerel with hot smoked salmon (you need a little less fish) if you fancy a wee change.

Quick, simple, cheap bursting with flavour and suits any dip sticks especially celery and red peppers.

Used our own caught mackerel which we smoked. Found it a bit too lemony so like Netski I will use half a lemon next time
