Method

  1. Make 3 slashes on each of the drumsticks. Mix together the soy, honey, oil, tomato purée and mustard. Pour this mixture over the chicken and coat thoroughly. Leave to marinate for 30 mins at room temperature or overnight in the fridge. Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6.
  2. Tip the chicken into a shallow roasting tray and cook for 35 mins, turning occasionally, until the chicken is tender and glistening with the marinade.

Tip

This marinade is also delicious with pork. Try marinating spare ribs and slow-roasting them until the meat is sticky and falling off the bone.

I have just finished making and eating these, they are lovely! Very runny so keep some kitchen roll or a tea towel handy because they are messy! A great meal for families, married couples and couples that have been together for a while, wouldn't recommend these for a first date because you look like a little kid whilst you eat them with sauce all over your face!

delicious - my marinade was also on the runny side so I poured it into a small saucepan and thickened with cornflour paste - came out PERFECT... poured back on chicken and heated through again in the oven.

Very easy. Left out the oil and it worked fine. Cooked the legs in the oven for 25-30 minutes.

I generally us coarse-grain mustard rather than Dijon, and lime marmalade instead of honey. This is delicious also using sausages - add a good dash of tabasco and some minced garlic. Great for relaxed sharing, whatever the meat, or for picnics - just make sure you've got finger bowls or hand wash gel!

I put the soy sauce in a whipped egg. Dusted dsticks with plain flour, then dipped drum sticks in egg-soy, then dipped in Paxo sage and onion stuffing, and in oven for 30 mins.

Used chilli puree instead of plain tomato, golden syrup instead of honey, no mustard and thighs as well as drumsticks, the boys loved the extra spicy kick of the chilli! Went well with potato wedges.

These were delicious. I doubled the recipe and used for 9 drumsticks plus a few mini fillets for the children. This meant that there was quite a lot of (runny) sauce in the bottom of the dish once cooked, which I then poured over the egg noodles and stir-fried vegetables that I served with the chicken. Perfect and delicious, and of course dead easy. Definitely making again.

Decent recipe I doubled up on some of the ingredients 4 tsp soya sauce 2 tsp Honey I also used less olive oil 1/2 tsp (had plenty to marinade and baste with) I also added 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp ginger powder A few drops of hot pepper sauce Salt and pepper to taste If I wanted to make them sweet I can use brown sugar or more honey and exclude the pepper Overall pleased with the outcome, a very simple recipe which you can alter to your taste

Very tasty and easy. I had chicken breasts and diced them up and marinaded them in the sauce for a few hours then cooked them with the marinade in the oven and served with Chinese noodles. The family loved them.

doubled the marinade quantity and left them overnight. Didn't look cooked after specified time so put them under the grill for a few mins basting them repeatedly with the sauce - this made the sauce much stickier and they ended up looking a lot more like the picture in the recipe.
