Friends for dinner on Saturday, I'd planned a French menu but I couldn't resist the fresh looking Old School Prawn Cocktail when I was trawling through the recipes (excuse the pun!), also North Atlantic ones, not flown-in, back to French for the main - Duck Breast Boulangere with seasonal veg and for pudding Poires au Chocolat Tarte

Excellent prawn cocktail. I sprinkled the prawns with some paprika and added slices of on the vine cherry tomatoes. Had friends round for dinner.

Add a small amt of fresh dill to the sauce and/or 1/2 tsp of horseradish to liven up the sauce. The sauce can be spooned over a serving of shrimp on a bed of lettuce placed on a flat serving plate. In addition- I served a crab salad placed in a stemless martini glass and garnished with fresh dill (all on the same plate). Easy and elegant starter!

Really enjoyed this retro classic. I used king prawns which went down well. I was a little concerned about the mayo/ketchup ratio so added it gradually. I ended up using 1 tablespoon of ketchup and three tablespoons of mayonnaise.

This sauce is the best seafood sauce I've ever tasted, it's delicious! I added some chopped dill into the mix as well.

this recipe was so easy my 6 year old daughter made it all on her own! She left out the tabasco as she doesn't like things too spicy but her dad and I were still impressed.
