    ol-iv oyl

Probably the most widely-used oil in cooking, olive oil is pressed from fresh olives. It's…

  1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Whizz together the 2 peeled garlic cloves, parsley and 1 tsp olive oil in a food processor. Add the breadcrumbs and seasoning before pulsing briefly to mix. Tip onto a plate.

  2. Cut a slit (roughly thumb-length) in the side of each chicken breast, at the plump end. Spoon ¼ of the soft cheese into each hole and press the edges together to seal. Rub 2 tsp oil over all the chicken breasts before pressing the herby crumbs onto them.

  3. Place the coated chicken in a shallow roasting tin. Scatter round the remaining unpeeled garlic cloves and drizzle with the rest of the oil. Bake for 20-25 mins until the chicken is cooked and crumbs crisp and golden. Squeeze out the soft, roasted garlic from the skins and serve with the chicken.

just made these chicken kievs tonight. i found the recipe wasn't very garlicy as i gave these to a person who hates garlic and they loved them. that being the case if you like garlic i recommend you stick a clove of garlic in the chicken and get a stronger garlic soft cheese. overall i gave this recipe a 5/5 stars as they came out perfect and the whole family loved them. they're also easy for beginner cooks to make! :)

Great recipe, have made this multiple times now. Can be tricky to get the breadcrumbs to stick on perfectly and they turn out green if you put too much parsley in but always tastes great.

Not difficult but mixing chopped parsley with fresh breadcrumbs created a dry lumpy paste that was hard to spread onto the chicken. Perhaps better to use dried breadcrumbs and dried parsley.

I enjoyed the taste of the kievs but they were quite dry. I would like to have them again with some kind of sauce, perhaps a garlic/cheese one. Other than that this is a great recipe!

The children loved this. They were sceptical at first, but once they tucked in they wolfed it down and were asking for more once they had finished. Will definitely be making this again.

Loved this, it was so quick and easy to make. They tasted far superior to shop bought kievs that always look grey! I did put in too much parsley though which made them green - but it didn't affect the flavour. My only slight criticism is that the crumbs underneath were soggy in comparison to the ones on top so may try turning the chicken half way through cooking next time.

Great recipe! However I find that you get a much better result if the chicken is dusted with flour and dipped in egg before coating with the breadcrumbs. There is also less chance of the cheese oozing out. I don't see any reason why they can't be frozen but I'm not sure if I would risk cooking them straight from the freezer. If anyone has tried this perhaps they could post their results?

Found this was a brilliant alternative to the ready-made ones I pick up in a hurry. The only problem I found was that 20 mins was far too long to cook my chicken breast at the temperature given as it came out quite dry. Next time i'd probably keep an eye on it- 15 mins would probably do the trick!

Either way, had no complaints and clean plates! :)

With the chicken defrosted and being fed up with curry I made this today. No problems making the crust although I did add some coarsley ground pepper and being short on some ingredients I shoved a couple of cheesy cubes (sliced) in the breasts with a crushed garlic cube. I enjoyed it, and the wife loved it. With the current bad publicity on processed foods, I don't think I will be making shop made ones again. This was easy peasey!

Tasted amazing, and really easy to prepare/cook. Will definitely be on my weekly menu.

Very tasty, far nicer than bought kievs and very easy to do

Very easy and tasty. Now a firm favourite in our house! Perfect for aspiring kids who want to make dinner. We're garlic-a-go-go in this house so I chop up a garlic clove to put in the crumbs too.

excellent recipe

flavours were nice - coating was disappointing. Would be much better fried first but then not so healthy.......

Simple to make and so succulant delicious.
Wish I could've had real kievs like these as a kid and not the crappy supermarket ones my mum used to get.

This was great! So easy to make and so tasty! I put too much parsley in tho, so it was a bit green. We all loved it from age 9 to 42 and would definitely make again. Even though my husband suggested frying them at the end next time to make them more crispy...

Another successful disaster zone meal. As my oven was out due to power cuts, I combined garlic, cream cheese and mixed herbs together and stuffed the chicken breasts. Then I dusted in flour, dipped in egg and coated with crushed cornflakes before deep frying in my tempura pan. Not bad for candle lit cooking!

The best kievs that we've had. Very easy to prepare. Will definitely make again

This was lovely, the chicken stayed moist, will definitely make again. The fresh herb and garlic breadcrumbs worked really well. Served with new potatoes and ratatouille.

Dipped each chicken breast in a bit of egg before rolling in breadcrumb mix.
