Method

  1. Put the cream, lemon zest and sugar into a large bowl and whisk them together until the mixture starts to thicken. Add the lemon juice and whisk again until the mixture thickens further, don't let it get too stiff or you won't be able fold in the egg whites.
  2. Whisk the egg whites until they form soft peaks and then fold them into the lemon mixture. Spoon the mousse into 4 glasses and chill. Decorate with extra zest if you like.

I loved this recipe! But I think that it was too creamy so I would recommend only using 150g double cream and it serving 3 people.

Made this as dessert for quite a 'foody' friend. I served it with very thin almond shotbread biscuits. She was incredibly impressed (especially when I was able to give full directions to make it - they are so simple and easy to remember). She now serves it regularly at dinner parties.

Absolutely brilliant. Once you've made it the first time, you'll realise how simple it is to 'whip up'. My top tip is to use a Double Creme/Creme Fraiche mix - makes it a little lighter. Also a lemon/lime mix works well.

Super quick easy recipe. I use half cream and half yogurt for a lower calorie recipe, and it still tastes and looks gorgeous!

Easy to make and nice flavour but very creamy and too sickly for my family to finish. Shame.

Gorgeous.. Light fluffy and tangy. May try with lime next time. I served in cocktail glasses and it made 5. Two were left overnight in the fridge and it was just as good the next day. I served with a spring of mint and a dusting of icing sugar. looked great. This is ideal after a heavy dinner.

i thought this was a delicious and easy mousse to make, took me about half an hour though and i added more juice to give it more of a kick. I think that this would be great for parties or students.

Needed a last minute pud for a dinner party and made this. It went down a storm! We had it after a curry and it was sooo refreshing. I served it in espresso cups with a few raspberries on top and a chocolate filled wafer curl biscuit type thingy! yummy! Will definitely make again :0)

this is a very tasty recipe- gorgeous and light. I make it the night before, and refrigerate, so it's very handy for a dinner party. i beat the egg whites to stiff peak, and fold them in. One small thing is that the lemon juice seems to seep to the bottom, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone! I have made this twice, and have been asked for the recipe each time. I served it in funky tea cups and saucers on one of the occasions, with some thin lemon shortbread biscuits on the side. Lovely
