  I didn't bother faffing about removing the pork and what have you. Just fried the steak in red wine and mixed herbs, was gorgeous. The apple mash is inspired! Would never have it any other way!

  Gorgeous, and the apple mash goes really well with it. Would cook the apples a bit longer next time though as they were a little lumpy in the mash.

  Great recipe! Forfeited the wine for gravy but was blown away by the apple mash...what a revelation! Am looking forward to making it again.

  Just made this using pear cider instead of wine as its what i had on hand - it was lovely! sprinkled a bit of rosemary on the chops and added onion to fry as well, definately making this again.

  Nice, but I found the gravy a bit too acidic, which masked the flavour of the lovely apple mash. I would definitely make the mash again though lovely

  Be careful not to put to much apple in the mash as I did as it was a bit 'sloppy' but still very tasty. I added a spoonful of honey to the gravy / sauce as the reduced wine was a little acidic and the result was really good. Also added a lump of butter at the last moment for richness. Nice simple and tasty midweek meal.
