Smoked salmon, watercress & horseradish pasta

Horseradish gives this pasta dish a nice kick and goes incredibly well with the salmon

  1. Cook the linguine following the packet instructions. Drain and then tip into a bowl with the rest of the ingredients. Toss together and season heavily with black pepper.

Gi assessment

Linguine has a low-Gi score, but it also depends on portion size. Stretch the amount of pasta to serve 3-4 people as this will ensure a lower blood glucose response. The lemon juice also helps to lower the Gi.

Really tasty and a bit different. You can use the offcuts of salmon available from the supermarket which makes it pretty cheap to make. Replaced the watercress with spinach when I couldn't get any and it's just as nice.

I liked this and its really easy to make. However the first time i made it i used the juice of one lemon and it was way to much. I would add the lemon a bit at a time to taste :o)

Lovely recipe but I agree with the lemon add to taste a whole llemon just dominates any other flavor and the horseradish tastes brilliant with smoked salmon.

Nice recipe but far too much lemon! Tip: Add the salmon at last minute, mine started to cook!

I cooked this for 4 and doubled everything - I thought it wasn't enough smoked salmon to begin with but it was actually plenty. I think I listened too much to the other comments though and didn't put enough lemon juice in! The only thing I would recommend is to reserve a little of the pasta water to add at the end, as I thought it was a little dry. Other than that the dish was a definate hit!

Really easy and enjoyable, wish I had read these before making it and only used half a lemon as a whole one was too much. Also I think next time I would only use 1tbsp of horseradish and it was very strong. But on the whole really lovely and will definitely make again. Served with garlic bread.

Really nice quick mid week meal. Only used half a lemon but will put the whole one in next time. Used natural yoghurt instead of creme fraiche (its a cholesterol thing!) and rocket instead of watercress. as thats what came out of the garden.

Was pleased how quick and easy it was to make and the results were great. I used half a lemon and thought this fine. Will make it again.

I made this and found it very lemony too, also the salt and oil from the smoked salmon is quite overpowering. I will try hot smoked salmon next and perhaps some dill. Does anyone have any tips on how to combine the sauce into the spaghetti?

Quick, easy and surprisingly good. Horseradish is a great accompaniment to salmon. Used spinach instead of watercress which worked great.

A bit too horseradishy for my liking. I was suprised everyone had commented on how the lemon overpowers but not the horseradish! I really like all the ingredients so was expecting something special but was a little disappointed. Glad it was christmas leftovers and not a dinner party!

This is a great little recipe. Dead quick and tasty. I normally love really lemoney food so was very supprised to find that I found this far to sour. What with the horsraddish being quite sour to start with you REALLY don't need a whole lemon. I'd say add half and taste before adding the rest.

This was nice, but even with the juice of just half a lemon it was an overpowering flavour. If you like this I highly recommend the smoked salmon and lemon risotto on this site which is delicious.
