Method

  1. Stir the ranch dressing ingredients together in a bowl with seasoning. Cover and chill until needed.
  2. To make the burgers, gently fry the onion in 1 tbsp oil with the oregano, cumin and paprika. When soft, transfer to a large bowl and cool. Add the beef, Worcestershire sauce and season. Mix well and add just enough egg to bind the meat together. Form into 4 burgers about 2 cm thick. Chill until needed (you can make these a day ahead).
  3. Grill the burgers over medium-hot coals, about 5-6 minutes each side for medium, 8-9 minutes for well-done. Split and lightly toast the burger buns.
  4. Lay a couple of lettuce leaves and a slice of tomato on the base of each bun and add a dollop of ranch dressing. Top with a burger, relish and gherkins.

FANTASTIC! The ranch dressing is the tastiest thing i've ever eaten, big hit in our house i can tell you. We served them with some homemade oven chips and a mixed herb and baby leaf salad, absolutely delicious!

Very tasty burgers. I served them with a chilli sauce rather than the ranch dressing.

These were fantastic burgers, really lovely. I'd cook mine for less time because they weren't pink in the middle. But the flavours were great. Didn't make the ranch - just had plain ol' ketchup/mustard/mayo....but thought guacamole/salsa/sour cream would have worked well!

Wow, the burgers and dressing were fantastic. I made the burgers 24 hours in advance, and the flavour was fabulous. I did add some finely chopped basil and parsley to the burgers which really enhanced the flavour. Did these for friends and they were suitably impressed!

Excellent recipe. Be sure to make the sauce in advance. I had to add 4 tb Greek yogurt to make up the 6 tb required for the mayonnaise and it was still good. I think I will keep the change and may sub the whole lot next time. I also used dried dill the second time.

Great Burger, would use slightly less cumin in future as i felt it somewhat overpowered the paprika and oregano.

WOW! The ranch dressing was absolutely delicious! The burgers were also lovely, even my 'self-confessed burger connoisseur' partner was impressed. These are probably the first home made burgers I've made that haven't fallen apart whilst cooking. But the ranch dressing, yum, I can honestly say I will never buy ready made again!
