Sprouts with walnuts & bacon

A great way to serve sprouts - don't save them for Christmas - make the most of them through their seasonal winter months

Method

  1. Steam the sprouts until tender but still bright green, about 5 minutes. Fry the lardons in a non-stick pan until crisp and golden, about 3 minutes. Add a small knob of butter and the walnuts and stir for a couple of minutes. Toss with the sprouts and serve.

    This was great and went down well with the whole family. Adding walnuts actually works, even for someone for me who doesn't usually like walnuts. It tastes lovely.

    This was OK, but nothing special. The bacon & walnuts were nice, but didn't seem to have much to do with the sprouts, which were still just sprouts.

    Before making this recipe I had never managed to finish a single sprout, but they were actually tasty when mixed with the bacon and walnuts! This dish went really well with our Christmas dinner.

    These were divine! I used Pancetta and a little more than the recipie states but they gave such a lovely flavour! I would definitely reccommend these i made them ahead of time and reheated in the pan. Great for Sprout and non-sprout lovers!
