Method

  1. Heat the oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Fry the onion, chilli and fennel in a little oil until the onion is softened.
  2. Cool a little, then mix with the apple, breadcrumbs and sausagemeat. Season well, pile into an ovenproof dish and rough up the surface with the back of a fork.
  3. Cook for 40 minutes until the top is golden brown and crusty.

    My wife has made this a couple of times and it was absolutely beautiful and enjoyed by all. Definitely will be having this with the Xmas dinner!

  • 1 large onion , grated
  • good pinch dried chilli flakes
  • 2 tsp fennel seeds , toasted and crushed slightly
  • oil , for frying
  • 1 apple , grated
  • 100g fresh breadcrumbs
  • 6 herby pork sausages , skins removed
