Method

  1. Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Line 1-2 baking sheets with baking parchment. Mix the sugars and butter together with a wooden spoon, then add the egg, vanilla, flour and half the melted milk chocolate and mix together. Stir in the white and plain chocolate chips or chunks, then use an ice-cream scoop or round tablespoon (like a measuring spoon) to scoop out balls of cookie dough and drop them straight onto the trays.
  2. Bake in batches for 8-9 mins until pale golden and still soft to touch - they will firm up as they cool. Carefully transfer to a wire rack as soon as they can be lifted up, then drizzle with the remaining melted chocolate.

Just wanted to add a comment now it is possible to do so again, these are ok, but nothing special and a little too buttery for me, there are much better recipes to be had.

Not great. Too much chocolate made them melt all over the baking tray and not enough substance. Also too sweet.

Wonderful delicious yummy cookies. Not too sure why everyone here has rated them so low because I fed them to several highly approving people, several of whom asked me for the recipe, and two who commented that these were better than those bought from cookie shops, and that I could sell them! These are proper, crunchy-outside-chewy-inside, American-style cookies. I used the leftover dark and white chocolate to drizzle over the top instead of using milk chocolate. Definitely worth giving this recipe a try.

Oh also - wasn't able to scoop these out easily with a spoon because of all the chocolate chunks falling off/getting in the way - instead just used my hands to create little balls of the dough which was much easier.

I'm not that impressed with these, they were too sweet and quite bland. They might have been better using dark chocolate rather than melted milk in the dough. Not a recipe I'll be repeating, there are many better ones out there.

Make these cookies every week, easy to do, taste scrummy. I do add 1/2 tsp baking powder to the recipe, which stops them from spreading too much.

these cookies are delicious, I definitely think they are better than shop bought cookies! have made them several times now and just miss out drizzling the melted chocolate at the end and put smarties on instead just after they come out of the oven. delicious.

Absolutely foolproof, easy to make cookies! Ended up making them twice in a week as they disappeared so quickly. Have made lots of different cookie recipes and these are by far the easiest with great results! I whizz everything up in a food processor, then stir in the chocolate chunks - have found it better to chop the chocolate up quite small as it makes scooping the dough out easier.

I made these without the milk chocolate as most people were saying it was too rich or sweet and they were PERFECT. I added a bit too many chocolate chips though *whoops*! Will try them with the melted chocolate and will let you know :D

Have just made these cookies for my son to take to uni - good ice breaker! I am very impressed, they really have the goo factor. I used slightly less melted chocolate in the mixture as I noticed the comments about them being sweet and didn't put the melted chocolate on top and they are excellent, will definitely be using this recipe again.
