Method

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan, season the chops then fry until browned. Remove, add the onion and cook for about 10 minutes until soft and caramelised. Add the cider, bring to a bubble and reduce a little. Add the cream and mustard, stir, bring to a simmer then put the chops back in and cook for 8-10 minutes or until cooked through.
  2. Meanwhile, cook the spinach in a large pan or wok with a knob of butter and some seasoning until wilted. Serve the chops and sauce with the spinach.

YUMMY!! Used creme fresh instead of normal cream - tasted lovely and was much lower in fat.

Loved this one - very tasty and the pork was really tender. I'm not a cider fan, but found it didn't overpower this. Served with really creamy mash. The only change - I wilted the spinach in the same pan as the chops and sauce, purely as a space saver as my cooker is tiny - I just made sure I'd squeezed the liquid out of it first so the sauce wasn't watery. Definitely doing this one again.

I love this recipe! Used pork steaks instead, and creme fresh rather than cream - came out great. Will make this regularly

The sauce was lovely, but I used pork loin instead of chops which turned out really dry. It was really tasty, but i'm not much of a fan of pork so would probably use chicken if I did it again.

Wow - loved this. Perfect autumnal flavours, although my pork came out a bit too dry...

This is delicious and so easy - I impressed my other half's parents with this. With any recipe that uses double cream, I tend to omit it and use creme fraiche (often half fat). It works just as well I think. I add it a bit later on in the cooking process, usually after the pork has 'poached' in the cider, and then just warm it through for 5ish minutes. Yum.

Really tasty. I think there was way too much sauce left over so either needed a lot more reducing or reducing the initial quantities by about a third. Also, if you like spinach then double the amount! Served it with mustard mash - amazing.

Very simple, very quick, very tasty! I'm not a big fan of mustard but I enjoyed it in this dish. I personally prefer the sauce quite rich so it's worth reducing down quite a lot towards the end if you're the same.

Avery nice dish indeed. Not used to doing anything different when it comes to chops, but this dish was easy to prepare and had a lovely flavour. Would use again and again.

Delicious and perfect dinner for two. I followed the recipe exactly except I cooked more spinach. I didn't think that any more vegetables were needed for this dish. Serve it up exactly as it is, French style, with fresh crusty bread on the side, great for dipping in the sauce!
