Method

  1. Heat the oven to 180C/fan 160C/gas 4. Simmer the potatoes for about 20 minutes until tender, then drain and mash with half the butter and a little milk. Season.
  2. Meanwhile, bring the rest of the milk to a simmer in a frying pan, add the fish and bay leaves, cover and cook for 6–8 minutes. Remove the fish (keep the poaching milk) and flake into a dish, sprinkle the prawns and egg on top.
  3. Melt the rest of the butter in a pan, add the flour and mix, then gradually add 300ml of the poaching milk, mixing constantly until all the milk has been absorbed. Bring to the boil and simmer for a couple of minutes then take off the heat and mix in the parsley. Season. Pour over the fish and prawns. Spoon the mash over so it covers everything, then sprinkle with the cheese.
  4. Cook for 20 minutes in the oven until the top is golden.

Audrey. if you think Danny`s blurb is impressive... last week I bought a top of the range Jaguar XJ from having earned $9367 this past four weeks and-just over, $10 thousand lass month. it's by-far the nicest job Ive ever done. I began this three months/ago and practically straight away began to bring home at least $84 per-hour. I use this website, >>>>>>wow65.com<<<<<<

Made this in class, people seemed to love the creamyness of the sauce, sadly the fish had a fair few bones... Put my mum off but other than that was delicious! Made without the eggs and cheese and added some muscles too.

This is a really lovely fish pie. Using smoked haddock and adding some frozen peas makes it even better. I also added some cream to the mash, it makes it even more calorific, but it's worth it as a special family treat. Everyone loved it, especially my 3 yearold son. Definitely a recipe to store in the cook book.

As others have said... this tasted delicious - but the vast amount of washing up (pan to poach the fish, pan to make the mash, jug to measure the milk, pan to make the sauce, dish to bake it all in, and a pan to boil a few peas) will put me off making it again. It does also have that huge amount of butter! However, if the washing up doesn't put you off, just make sure your baking dish is big enough. Mine was just a tad too small... so now I'm off to do the washing up AND clean the oven! The pie was a pleasure to eat though! I used a mix of salmon, pollack and smoked haddock which was being sold by my local supermarket as a 'fish pie mix' and it worked well.

Our Kids, just hate fish! This pie was a great success though. They licked their platers clean (not literally)!

Have just finished cooking this right now. didn't add prawns
(as nobody likes them in our household) and didnt add the eggs either because it sounded rank. very loosely followed the recipie as my scales are broken so i just added what i though in terms of amounts. Tastes delicious though and as its my 1st ever fish pie i think its fantastic!

I loved this fish pie, it was really enjoyable. I added some mushrooms and sweetcorn and used a mixture of plaice and haddock - it was delicious.

Lovely flavour, but the sauce was far too thick. Will make again, but add less flour to the sauce mixture. I will also try it with a puff pastry topping.

Lovely! The sauce was a much better texture than those I have tried previously. Would serve more than 4 though I think. I served it with brocolli and my pre-schooler son loved it. The cheese adds a little perk to it as well. Brilliant!

Using the quantities stated for the parsley sauce (75g butter, 300ml milk, 60g flour) did not work. I needed much more milk to make the sauce the correct consistency. Other than that, a nice fish pie, but nothing special.

we dont like hard boiled eggs, so i use cod, smoked haddock, prawns and capers. This is a quick and easy evening meal and fresh ingredients definitely makes a difference.
