  very simple to make ... and very soft in the middle ... my only problem is it only just makes about 6 scones (not 8) ... which dont last long :)

  Well, these were really nice but more like rock cakes than scones.. Not that I'm complaining cos' I love rock cakes but yes, all in all they were delicious! I agree theres no way you could make 8 from the mixture.

  very simple and delicious. I managed to make 5, probably because I used a large scone cutter. I used 200g plain flour and 25g self-raising (because I didn't have ebough plain flour) and it was really soft. They only lasted for 2 days, but it was still soft the next day.

  Tastey but didn't really rise...flat scones! The question is did I forget to put the baking powder in?! I know I got it out the cupboard but flat scones?! Oh dear!

  My scones didn't rise at all and were salty. I tried this out cos other recipes have been fine but I will use another scone recipe which uses self raising flour.

  Very fluffy, didnt rise a great deal, first impressions for taste were quite bad! didnt taste much like real scones!! disappointed but will probably try a recipe with self raising flour next time.

  Quite dissapointed with this recipe. Firstly, the scones were very flat, and then when we got round to eating them, they were incredibly salty. I think I will be using a different recipe next time.

  Well I have used this recipe twice now. I recommend only using 100ml of milk otherwise it goes a bit too sticky, but I managed to make 9 good sized scones which rose a good 2 cm, so I don;t know why everyone else is having such a big problem with this recipe

  Really easy recepie. Added some all spice and substituted the flour for doves farm plain gluten free. The results were great. I am very pleased with the results!

  I agree with the some of the others, they didn't look as they were supposed to - a bit flat. I was a bit worried that I used the wrong flour... The recipe was easy to follow though and they did taste quite nice even though a bit hard for me.

  The taste of these scones is nice, but they do not rise at all. It's more like a hockey puck than a scone! I now use the other scone recipe here on the website (just search for "Classic scones") which uses self-raising flour and also a bit of lemon juice... these rise wonderfully and are much better.

  This worked really well. My wife made them first and we cut out with a small cup but we've since got cutters and I've used the larger one since. Only advice would be to makre sure you leave a good bit of space between the scones. When I made them, there were a couple which "bonded". Not that they went to waste, cut apart and polished off nicley. Tried since with Glace cherries instead of sultantas, Mmmmm

  You can take 25 g of honey also instead of the sugar and wholemeal flour instead of the plain flour.
