Monkey old-fashioned cocktail
A sophisticated whisky-based cocktail created by master mixologist Xavier Padovani

5 minutes prep + 10 minutes assembly
- On a chopping board, soak each sugar cube with a dash of Angostura bitters. Put sugar cubes into a 11/ 2 litre jug, add the mineral water, a dash of Monkey Shoulder, then gently muddle the mix (using a rolling pin) so that the sugar is almost completely dissolved.
- Add half of the remaining whisky and about 10 to 15 ice cubes and stir gently. Add the rest of the whisky, a handful of ice cubes, then stir. Strain the drink into 10 old-fashioned glasses, already fi lled with ice cubes. Squeeze an orange twist over each glass, then drop it into the glass.

- 10 dashes Angostura bitters
- 100ml still mineral water
- ½l Monkey Shoulder Triple Malt whiskey
- plenty of ice cubes
- 10 orange peel twists, as big as you can make them (avoid the pith if you can)
