  I made my own toffee sauce:50g butter, 50g light muscovado, 1-2 spoonfuls honey/maple syrup/golden syrup and 2-3 spoonfuls cream heated together. Cheaper than buying toffee sauce and much nice too. Also worked well with apples.

  I did this a few times as set out in the recipe and even though it always went down well, it was a bit of a faff. I took to making one large tart with sliced apples instead which you can knock up a lot quicker.

  Very easy to make and looks great. I did'nt find these quite sweet enough for my taste but served with a good quaility vanilla cream or ice cream this is a nice light dessert.

  Loved this. Needed something quick and easy to use up some pears. Thanks to Superjean for her sauce recipe, that was perfect as I couldn't get to the shops. Will be making this more often with other fruits.

  I made these for a dinner party and found them rather disappointing. They were very easy and looked quite pretty but they were bland and although I put them in for as long as the recipe said, the pear didn't taste cooked enough but I cou;dn't have had them in any longer or the pastry would have burnt. I wouldn't make these again.

  made these with some left over homemade rough puff, and used pre-made sticky toffee sauce. tasted good and looked fantastic but the toffee ended up all over the baking tray so couldnt really taste it. going to try it again tonight but maybe drizzle some toffee over the top just before the end of cooking as well putting some on the base.

  Absolutely delicious! Thank you, Superjean for the toffee sauce recipe. I made mine with maple syrup and it was very good. I made the recipe with home-made rough-puff pastry, and after baking with the pears, sprinkled a little maple sugar on top. This looked pretty and added a little extra fillip of flavour. Also, I added an artistic dollop of 2% yogurt on the side. Looked very elegant and balanced the sweetness.

  I think five stars is not enough for this ridiculously easy but stunning result recipe. Don't be misled by how simplistic it appears - it is perfect for a dinner party

  This was incredibly easy to make and so delicious. I was worried the pear halves wouldn't cook through in the oven so I poached them for 10 minutes in a white wine/water mixture and they were perfect. Also made Superjean's toffee sauce - fabulous - and drizzled some over the finished galettes and vanilla ice cream I served alongside. Great dinner party food, everyone loved them.
