  2. Drop in the haddock and prawns and simmer for a further 2-3 minutes to cook the haddock and heat the prawns. Season, add the chopped parsley, and serve in deep bowls with crusty bread.

Made this as tonight's Good Friday meal for my other half and children. My kids and I who like fish thoroughly enjoyed it and all gave it 5 stars, the other half who hates fish cleared his bowl and gave it 3. I added cod with king prawns and smoked haddock and omitted the parsley. Really nice recipe for a day when you want something special but don't want to use meat - a perfect for Good friday. Would definately make it again.

Did anyone else find that this dish curdled and so looked disgusting? The taste was fine but the look was awful.

Lovely, did this with mixed fish as it was cheaper, so cod, smoked haddock and salmon - the packs you can buy for fish pie, very filling and great with a nice chunk of soda bread. Quick and easy!!

I made this at the weekend and did it in two stages as suggested - just adding the smoked haddock before serving (& left out the prawns) - very yummy.

Only used 300g of fish but added extra prawns. Excellent and will try suggested variations. Froze and defrosted well.

This was really lovely and very moreish. If you want to make it slightly cheaper you could cut the amount of fish down by half and it would still be a good dish.

This is a delicious and really healthy recipe! I have made it with different varieties of smoked fish and always add some smoked bacon which adds a really nice flavor. Definitely worth a try!

Hi, I can't buy smoked haddock in Australia (for some reason properly smoked white-flesh fish is almost impossible to find here) I'm sure this chowder will be lovely made with hot-smoked trout, tiger prawns and perhaps some scallops, but if I wanted to make it as per the recipe, our only readily available option seems to be that dreadful South African cod with the sprayed-on colour, which I refuse to buy. Any ideas as to what I could use?
