  This was a very successful Saturday night supper for my husband and young grandchildren. The recipe said to tie the bacon to the sausages, but I found it much quicker and easier to keep each slice of bacon in place with a toothpick. I served it with mashed potatoes and stir-fried cabbage scattered with Country Mix (a blend of nuts and dried fruit) from Tesco.

  I have a family gathering on the last saturday before Christmas. It has become Granmas sausage supper. This recipe is one of the dishes that is so very popular..and easy brilliant.

  Enjoyed this very much and will definitely make again but I think next time I will put some thinly sliced onions with the sausages when it is ready for the oven.

  This was really easy, satisfying and absolutely delicious. I had weight-watchers herbed pork sausages in the freezer, and they were so good in this recipe. I was feeling a bit lazy, so simply wrapped the bacon around the sausage and put the whole lot in the oven, skipping out the browning step. Worked beautifully :)

  Only had plain sausages so I smeared the inside of the bacon with a little wholegrain mustard, dried sage and a drizzle of honey before wrapping them round the sausages - delicious! Didn't brown them them either - just put oil in an overnproof dish and placed in the oven to get hot - the sausages then sizzle nicely when you put them in and they start browning from the off. Also added some onion wedges, a few chunks of carrot (Not to big or they won't cook through in time) & a good pinch of mixed herbs. Served with mustard mash, steamed broccoli and gravy - lovely meal.

  I went with Dane's suggestion smeared the bacon with mustard and honey and roasted with onion wedges and apple. Delicious, I will definately make this again.

  I also went along with danes suggestions the honey and mustard and sage was sooooo delicious with some red onion wedges too and lots of fresh herbs so tasty!

  Made this recipe today and was a huge hit. I did put some red onion it with it and made some cheesy potatoes to go with it and both my 5yr old and 2yrs old ate it all up and even asked for seconds which makes it a hit for the Frosties !

  This was very warming and filling. I think next time i will toss the sausages in a mixture of honey and whole grain mustard to give an extra ooomph to the flavour.

  I browned the sausages in the pan the first time I tried this, but ended up with pretty burnt bacon at the end of it! Next time I didn't bother with browning and it worked perfectly. I think I'll try tossing it in honey and mustard next time as suggested by Vicky Food. Yum!

  In addition to my previous comment.. Made it again last night, this time i added baby new potatoes cut in half to make bite size pieces and added them to the pan whilst the sausages browned to give the potato colour as well. Put the lot in the oven as per recipe, then when added the apple, mixed in runny honey and a few spoons of wholegrain mustard. The potatoes were cooked perfectly, and the mustard and honey make a lovely glaze/sauce.
