Method

  1. To caramelise the onions, cook them with the sugar and a large knob of butter over a very gentle heat for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, mix all the burger ingredients together in a bowl and season well. Shape into four burgers, then fry over a medium heat for 6-7 minutes each side until cooked in the middle.
  2. Serve on toasted buns with the caramelised onions, a green salad and chunky chips.

Found this recipe ok but tasted like it could have had more flavor to it I did add plenty of seasoning but it still wasn't enough therefore was a little disappointed

Tried these for the first time tonight and they turned out perfectly! Scrummy! I served them with the onions and a side of sweet potato wedges- they go really well together and are slightly healthier than chips!

Top notch, forgot to get the sage so cooked them without with extra black pepper. Put some apple sauce on a dry bread roll and they were divine. Will definitely be making them again.

These are lovely. Did them without the onions first time, but next time made the effort and they really made a difference. I'm going to repeat my often made request to PLEASE get your IT people to rearrange the comments so the latest is shown first. When recipes have loads of comments it takes ages to scroll through the get to the latest ones, and they're the best to read because ingredients and methods are changing all the time. I'm not the only person to have asked for this - is anybody listening??!

Delicious - I added the caramalised onions to the burger itself, went down very well at a BBQ!
