Method

  1. Mix together the soy sauce, sherry, sesame oil, garlic and ginger in a shallow dish. Add the steak and leave to marinate for about 20 minutes (or longer, if you have time).
  2. Heat a large heavy-based frying pan or wok, add the sesame seeds and toast over a high heat, stirring, for a few minutes until golden. Tip on to a plate.
  3. When ready to cook, heat the sunflower oil in a large frying pan or wok until hot. Add the steak with the marinade and stir fry for 3-4 minutes over a high heat until lightly browned. Remove, using a slotted spoon, on to a plate, leaving the juices in the pan.
  4. Toss the carrots in the pan and stir fry for a few minutes, then add the mangetout and cook for a further 2 minutes.
  5. Return the steak to the pan, add the mushrooms and toss everything together. Add the hoisin sauce and stir fry for a final minute. Sprinkle with the toasted sesame seeds and serve immediately.

Very tasty. Didn't have mange tout so substituted sugar snap peas which were actually fine. I also used a red pepper instead of mushrooms, and served with rice

Very tasty. served it with boiled rice and swapped mangetout and mushrooms for green beans and celery. Could add many or any different vegetables though. Other than that followed it exactly. The sesame seeds were a great addition! Will definately be making again its quick and easy!

Made this for dinner yesterday and it was nice. I found that it was really very salty, which may come down to the authentic hoisin I used that we brought back from China. Flavours were really lovely and will make it again but need to find the source of the extra salt. Boyfriend loved it though and keeps demanding more!

Delicious! I've been using this website for ages & I love it! This is the first time I've added a comment. My husband said this dish was better than a takeaway. Didn't change anything except didn't have any mushrooms!

This is seriously, seriously yummy! I used pork instead of beef and marinated it for about 45 mins and it tasted delicious. I also used a red chilli and some edamame beans I had in the freezer - I'm sure you could throw anything in you needed to use up. Will definitely make again.

Absolutely delicious. Had all the ingredients in the fridge, the only addition I made was added a bunch of spring onions with the mushrooms. Will definitely make again.

really tasty and easy to make dinner. I can't believe something so healthy can taste so delicious. I added baby corn and red peppers but apart from that I stuck to the recipe.
