Method

  1. heat oil in saucepan and fry garlic until fragrant
  2. in a bowl mix ingredients for the paste and add to the garlic and mix through for a few seconds and add the coca cola, stir until well mixed
  3. add mustard, red wine vinegar and ketchup and simmer for 10 minutes until thickened
  4. transfer to sterilised jar and store in refridgerator

    A lovely sauce with more depth of flavour than my normal sauce. It was a bit like a sweet and sour but with definite BBQ flavours...very good! I wasn't sure which mustard to use though so opted for Dijon but maybe it should've been English?

    thanks, glad you liked it. the mustard was French American style mustard ( hot dog mustard)

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • for the paste
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp hot chilli powder
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 tbsp muscovado sugar
  • 1 small dried ancho chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 ground black pepper
  • 100 ml coca cola
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 250g heinz tomato ketchup
