  I made these muffins on Christmas Eve morning last year, and them aromas filling the house had everyone flocking to the kitchen in their pajamas! I topped them with a luscious cream cheese frosting and brought them to my cousin's house that evening for Christmas drinks - suffice to say they vanished pretty quickly!

  Haven't actually made the muffins - but have put together the jars layered with the ingredients and spoon as raffle prizes for school xmas fayre - they went down a storm. Will definitely do again next year!!!

  Fantastic muffin recipe - a real taste of christmas and the tropical fruits give it a really different slant. Will definately make these again over the coming festive weeks!!!!

  Really super muffins! I came over all christmassy making them. I bought all the bits to make the jars off ebay really cheap and will have fun making them.

  Hi Harriet! I think you can find these several places... Lakeland springs to mind or I would try pound stores or stores like Woolworths - or even charity shops to find old fashion jam jars... Cook shops and larger supermarkets could probably help you too!

  I found kilner type jars like those in the picture above in ikea, and they were only £1.49 each. I couldnt find the mini wooden spoons though, so i tied two cinnamon sticks to each jar and it looked just as good, and the smell was great too!

  I thought Glenys' idea to give them as raffle prizes was great so have done just that for my kids' school Christmas Fayre next weekend (for the 'jam jar' stall) - took them to school this morning with some mini muffins I made as samples... I am not sure they will last until the Fayre as teachers said they should have first 'dibs' on buying them and want the full recipe!

  I love this idea. I too got the jars from Ikea and I found some smallish wooden spoons in Tesco that are a good size against the jars. I'm making these for hampers but one of the recipients has a nut allergy - can anyone suggest a subsititute for the nuts in this recipe?

  I made hampers as christmas presents and i put a jar of muffin mix (ikea jars are fantastic for this) and a jar of apple and cranberry chutney in. everybody loved them, they looked really festive, in fact i put a layer of dried cranberries in as well and just put less mixed fruit.
