- 8 ripe plums, halved, stone removed
- 4 tbsp maple syrup
- 50g butter, cut into pieces
- 50g plain flour
- 50g rolled oats
- 25g golden caster sugar
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 25g flaked almonds

Method
- Heat oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Place the plum halves, skin side down, in the base of a large heatproof dish. Drizzle over half the maple syrup and roast for 10 mins.
- Meanwhile place the butter, flour, oats, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and rub the butter into the mixture until you have rough crumbs. Stir in the almonds, then sprinkle over the plums. Drizzle the top with the remaining maple syrup and bake for 15 mins until the top is golden. Serve with custard.

I wonder if I did something wrong, as I really wasn't impressed with this. I used half the quantity of topping specified but there was still far too much crumble for the amount of fruit, and, although it tasted nice enough, it was very dry. I might try again with a mixture of plums and apples, to get a bit more moisture into it.
