Method

  1. Heat the butter in a saucepan and when lightly foaming gently cook the onions until softened, but not coloured. Tip in the potato and stir to coat in butter, then pour over the stock. Simmer until softened.
  2. Tip in the frozen peas and bring back to the boil. Cook for a couple of mins. Remove from the heat and blend until smooth. Stir in the diced ham and serve.

Made this soup with the stock that I boiled the ham in, enjoyed it so much, I bought another Ham joint. Am now making my second lot. Soooo simple to make and scrummy.

Very tasty, quick and easy to make. I used knor 'ham' stock cubes, added an extra potato, 6-7 fresh mint leaves, and some of the ham to the soup before blending. It was one of the nicest soups i've ever eaten.

Really easy to make and ingredients are very cheap! I added a tub of quark to make it creamy, this also helped to thicken it up.

I used ham hock. A great autumn soup!

Delicious and so quick. Added more potato to make it thicker. Also some garlic, pepper and parsley. Great way to use up cooked gammon from dinner last night.

I added garlic and parsley for extra flavour and my little girl ate it with a cream cracker crushed into it. Very nice though needs something extra to thicken it.

i found if you add a good handful of chopped fresh mint and plenty of seasoning it gives an extra boost to a lovely warming soup. goes down a treat with my 2 boys.

I've it. Used the ham juice as stock! Tasty easy and the family loved it.

I made this to use up left over Christmas ham even though I don't really like peas but this was delicious! I must admit I used chicken stock as it was a bit last minute and that's all I had in the cupboard but I found it very tasty and filling. It looked so appetising all bright green with the pretty pink chunky ham sitting on top. Will definitely make again.

Good soup, easy to make. Doen't mention how much stock to put in, so I added 1 pint.

After doing my Christmas ham this year I decided to use the stock from the ham to make this soup. It was lovely! A nice thick and tasty soup, but it does need a fair bit of seasoning to bring out the flavour. Maybe some paprika next time would make a nice addition.

We are making a new soup every 2 days through winter. This was not one of the best for me but my partner gave it 4. It was a very quick and easy recipe.
