Little mince pie cakes

These miniature mince pies are sure to go down a treat with anyone with even a slightly sweet tooth

Method

  1. Heat oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Line 12 bun tins with paper cases. Put the flour, sugar, spice, butter, eggs and milk into a mixing bowl and beat with an electric hand whisk or wooden spoon for 2-3 mins, until the mix is light and fluffy.
  2. Put a spoonful of cake mix in each case, then a rounded tsp of mincemeat. Cover the mincemeat with a spoonful of cake mix and smooth.
  3. Bake for 15-18 mins until golden brown and firm. Dust with icing sugar and serve warm or cold.

    Sobia, i use a jar of tesco finest mincemeat. put a teaspoonful straight from the jar onto the cake mix, then cover with the rest of the mix,they are lovely.

    Just made these cakes...lovely and so easy to make..I had made my own mincemeat so they tasted even better...I did add alot of cinnamon as i love the taste,,,..,perfect easy recipe..x

    These cakes are lovely. Light and tasty and great with a cup of tea. A great alternative to mince pies, I will defineately make these again and not just for Christmas!

    These are a fantastic alternative to those who don't like mince pies. They never last long when I make them every year. If you like a bit of extra kick, add a dessert spn of brandy to the mince first, and grating in an apple adds extra flavour and keeps them super moist.

    sobia, mincemeat can be bought ready made in jars, it is a mixture of dried fruits and spices, not to be confused with savoury mince.

    I made these for the school christmas fayre and they went down a storm. I used the 'Sandham Family Mincemeat' with them which is a firm family favourite. I will be using the recipe as part of my mincemeat christmas pressies instead of just putting a normal mince pie recipe.

    Yum! Just made these, helped by my 4 year old daughter, and we loved them. We will definitely be making these again for our Christmas party on Saturday -maybe adding a bit more mincemeat this time.....

    Made these last nite simple to make and tasted lovely hubby and 18 yr son loved them wot more can i say lol made 24 buns in all just added sweet mixed spice instead of wot recipe states made a world of difference will def make again not just for christmas.

    Excellent recipe, just made my first couple of dozen for the kids to have for christmas tuck treats, cant see them lasting very long...they are yummy, especially as they sit there on the cooling rack!

  • 100g light muscovado sugar
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • 175g softened butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • about 140g mincemeat
