Great easy recipe

Delicious and easy recipe. I added a pinch of Mixed Spice too.'s picture

A few weeks ago, early November, emptying out the freezer, I came upon a pot of last year's cranberry sauce. It was still really nice, so it clearly keeps virtually a least!

I forgot to say, I added a star anise, also I didn't have clementines so used mandarins. I froze it for a couple of weeks beforehand and it was still fab!

We loved this, it is far superior to the stuff in the jar. I would not buy the other again.

I've tried almost every type of cranberry sauce and this is by far my favourite. I've always made it fresh, 2 days in advance but in an effort to be super-organized this year, I'm going to make it ahead and freeze it in. Fingers crossed it remains as delicious after a few weeks in the freezer. ..

I made this on Xmas eve and it was delicious with our turkey. Very easy to make, it had the perfect blend of sweet and sharp. It was great with cheese too on Boxing Day. A keeper!

I made it to go with CHRISTMAS dinner. It went beautifully with both the turkey and the nut roast for the vegetarians. I did put in the juice of two clementines by mistake but it worked very well indeed.

Made this in advance on Christmas Eve for dinner on Christmas Day. It was lovely, I added two tablespoons of red currant jelly. Would certainly make it again. Don't think I would buy another jar of cranberry sauce, its so easy to make.

This is a solid recipe, rave reviews for this cranberry sauce recipe. I will never buy another jar/can of cranberry sauce ever again. Thank you!

This is by far the best recipe for Cranberry Sauce I've ever made. Because of the ingredients I did not limit it to having it with meats etc so I added it as a sauce to accompany desserts and it is divine over ice-cream!! Additionally you may have heard of chilli chocolate, just add a little chilli powder whilst cooking the sauce to give it a hint of a kick, again lovely with meats and desserts alike!!

Made this last Christmas and it really was lovely. It was so easy to make and tasted so good I will be making again this year (but more of it).

The recipe says you can keep this in the freezer for 2 months but long can you keep this in the fridge?

Really great, finished the first batch up, it's been used on leftover ham, pate etc and going to make a second batch now.

I love this as I'm allergic to oranges but not clementines, never thought I could eat cranberry sauce until I saw this recipe!

Made this for the first time this year-wow! Doubled the recipe & I'm glad I did as it was so popular. Wonderful.

this is simple but oh so lovely. Ive made several jars (and of course one for me) while the cranberries were on special offer. I am going to give these as presents on christmas eve, decorated with dried orange and cinnamon sticks :-)

Tried this for the first time this Christmas. The family loved it. Will never buy ready made cranberry sauce again.

Ive tried this recipe using morgans spiced rum instead of port, makes it lovely and spicy!

mellywelly81's picture

Is there a recommended alternative to the clementines which isn't orange based?

goodfoodteam's picture

Hi mellywelly81 we haven't tested this recipe without the clementines so can't guarantee perfect results but you could try adding an extra 2 tbsp of port and either a splash of some pressed apple juice or some pomegranate juice (choose pressed or 100% juices not those labeled "juice drink" for a recipe like this). Let us know how you get on.
